Mithridates (also known as Mithridates VI or Mithridates Eupator) was a king of Pontus, a kingdom located in what is now northern Turkey, who lived from 132 BCE to 63 BCE. He was known for his military prowess and his resistance against the expanding Roman Empire.
Mithridates inherited the kingdom of Pontus from his father when he was just 11 years old, and he spent much of his early reign fighting off invasions from neighboring kingdoms. He eventually expanded his territory and became a major player in the power struggles of the eastern Mediterranean.
