Mithradates VI Eupator, King of Pontos, a bust/head.

A sculptured head portrait of Mithridates from antiquity, now in the V & A museum, London.

He was known as the `enemy of Rome`, and a descendant of Alexander the great.

He led the resistance of the Hellenistic East against Roman expansion in the first century BC, and he spread the banner of revolt all the way to Greece until finally defeated, after three wars, by Pompey the Great.
