Winged Victory Of Samothrace. A Marble Statue.

The Winged Victory of Samothrace is a famous Hellenistic sculpture that depicts the Greek goddess Nike (Victory) standing on the prow of a ship, with her wings outstretched and her garments billowing in the wind. The statue is also known as the Nike of Samothrace and is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture.

The statue was created around 200-190 BC and was originally located on the island of Samothrace in the Aegean Sea. It was likely commissioned by the people of Rhodes to commemorate a naval victory and was probably placed in a sanctuary overlooking the sea.

Today, the Winged Victory is on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, where it has been since 1884. The statue has been restored over the years and is considered a major attraction at the museum. Its dynamic pose, flowing drapery, and intricate details make it an iconic example of Hellenistic art.
