Marble Bust Of Mercury. A fine reproduction of the original work by Canova.

In Roman mythology, Mercury was the god of commerce, communication, and messages. He was also known as the patron of travelers, thieves, and merchants.

He was the son of Jupiter (Zeus) and the Pleiad Maia, and was considered one of the twelve major gods of the Roman pantheon.

In addition to his role as a messenger, Mercury was also believed to guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife and was associated with fertility and abundance. He was often worshipped alongside other deities in the Roman pantheon, and his festival, the Mercuralia, was celebrated on May 15th.

Height 44cm. Weight 14kg.
