Ganymede and Jupiters Eagle. Our statue is a fine miniature copy of the original work by Bertel Thorvaldsen, 1817.

Ganymede and the Eagle is a sculpture created by Bertel Thorvaldsen in 1817-1820. It depicts the mythological story of Ganymede, a beautiful young Trojan prince who was abducted by Zeus, the king of the gods, in the form of an eagle.

The original sculpture is made of marble and stands at about 2.1 meters tall. It depicts Ganymede, who is shown as a graceful and youthful figure, being carried away by the eagle. Ganymede is shown with his arms outstretched, as if in flight, while the eagle clutches him with its powerful talons.
