Bacchus and cupid, a copy of the famous work by Bertel Thorwaldsen.

The Thorvaldsen Bacchus and Cupid Marble Wall Plaque is a work of art created by the Danish neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen in the early 19th century. It is a relief sculpture made of white marble, depicting the Roman god Bacchus (also known as Dionysus) and his son Cupid (also known as Eros) in a playful scene.

The sculpture shows Bacchus holding a bunch of grapes in his left hand while his right arm is draped around Cupid’s shoulder. Cupid, in turn, is holding a bunch of grapes in his left hand while his right hand is placed on Bacchus’ hip. The scene is full of movement and energy, with the figures intertwined in a dance-like pose.

The Thorvaldsen Bacchus and Cupid Marble Wall Plaque is considered one of Thorvaldsen’s masterpieces and is highly regarded for its beauty and technical skill. It is now housed in the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark, where it is on display for visitors to enjoy.

Size: 51 x 70 cm. Weight 14kg.
