Ammonites were relatives of squids and nautili which thrived in the seas doing the time of the dinosaurs. Their name originates from the Greek ram-horned god Ammon.

The ammonite is a deep rustic brown, and the delicate suture lines can be seen on the outer surface. Specimens of this size are becoming very hard to find. This is a beautiful and unusual display piece or collectors fossil.
