Napoleon as Caesar. A Marble Bust: A fine copy of the original by Canova. 1804.

The marble bust “Napoleon as Emperor” is a sculpture that portrays Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and became emperor of France from 1804 to 1814.

The sculpture depicts Napoleon in military attire, wearing his famous bicorne hat and with his arms crossed. The bust is made of white marble and stands approximately 35 cm tall. It was created by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova in 1806, just two years after Napoleon was crowned emperor.

Canova was known for his neoclassical style, which emphasized simplicity, balance, and a return to the classical forms of ancient Greece and Rome. The “Napoleon as Emperor” bust is considered one of his masterpieces and is housed in the collection of the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Size: 70 x 60 x 30 cm. Weight 20kg.
